Palm oil is an extremely versatile product with uses ranging from food manufacturing and cooking to cosmetics, toiletries and lubricants. Increasingly, it is also used as biofuel providing an alternative to scarce oil resources.

Asian Agri's plantation development is in Sumatra, the sixth largest island in the world. Numerous factors make Sumatra an ideal location for cultivating oil palms. This tropical plant grows best at latitudes between approximately 10 degrees north and south of the equator - which divides Sumatra roughly into two halves. This conducive climate between the 2 latitudes is further complemented by fertile soil and an abundant source of labour.
Asian Agri currently owns 28 palm oil plantations and operates 19 palm oil mills in Sumatra. We are also in partnership with 11 Plasma and KKPA estates. Our mills process palm fruits from all 160,000 hectares of land which are under cultivation. -cis-cus- The 19 existing mills have the capacity to produce around 1 million metric tonnes of Crude Palm Oil (CPO). As such, Asian Agri is ranked as one of the largest primary producers of CPO in Asia. Furthermore, several new mills will be constructed as the Group grows or according to the strategic needs of the Group.
